There is a solid reason for the no boards policy. To allow the beards is to reduce safety of crew and individual. Not until we come up with entire head type masks/helmets should this change. Imho

I am all for no shave chits. I had sailors that had legit reasons for having the chits. I moved them around so they weren't put in the position of getting themselves or others harmed if there was an emergency. I have a real problem changing policy that makes life more dangerous for an already dangerous job, just so some sailors can look cool...

LT Brad McInnis sir, I agree. I know there are some skin conditions that call for no shaving. Glad you were able to move those personnel around without endangering them, other personnel or the mission.

This came up as an issue when I was in the Navy in the 1980's. I don't think the policy will change.
