SALRadio Highlights Army 28-16 Win Over UTSA Playing Two New QBs

"An Improbable Win"
That was how Army head coach Jeff Monken described the win over University of Texas San Antonio, playing two quarterbacks who had played a total of one snap for West Point at the position.
QBs who had played the majority of the season junior Christian Anderson and sophmore Jemel Jones were both injured and Jabari Laws has not played this year.
Highly touted freshman Cade Ballard, who was 30-0 as a starter named a two time Mr. Tennessee high school player started and led the team two a first quarter highlighted by a 66 yard touchdown run by Anthony Adkins.
In the next series sophomore Tyhier Tyler came who was being tried as a running back earlier in the year and had not practiced for 5-6 weeks came in on running downs basically first and second down and Ballard coming in on passing or long yardage situations.
UTSA answered early in 2Q with a 50 yard field goal by Hunter Duplessis.
Sophomore Jakobi Buchanan scored in with 5:06 left in 2Q on a five yard run to give Army Army a 14-3 lead, followed by a 14 play UTSA drive capped by a 1 yard TD pass to Lowell Narcisse pass to WR Zahkari Franklin to make score 14-10 at the half.
In the third quarter Tyhier Tyler capped a 70 yard drive with a 37 yard run just reaching the left flag of the end zone before being tackled.
In the 4th quarter UTSA scored on an 11 yard pass play by QB Frank Harris, in for the injured Narcisse, to Franklin his 2nd TD of the day. The PAT kick was blocked by DE Ryan Duran.
Army moved to a 12 point lead on a Cade Ballard 53 yard pass to WR Cam Harrison tackled at the five, with Ballard scoring on the next play, the fourth PAT of the day by Landon Salyers gave Army a 28-12 lead which they held stopping UTSA on downs twice on 4th and goal at the 10, and 4-4 at the Army 22.
Army now 5-1 will return home next Saturday to play Mercer at Michie Stadium.

Third and fourth sting QB's getting it done! Defense looked pretty good too. UTSA QB was a serious threat. Damn was he elusive.

Actually that was QBs number 5 and 6. Army had a great recruiting class with its sophomores and Cade Ballard was a major recruit who could have gone to other schools.
