Thank you my friend SGT (Join to see) for reminding us that on December 6, 1865, the 13th Amendment to the United States Constitution was ratified abolishing slavery.

Understanding the 13th Amendment by Senator Henry Wilson 1865
'On December 18, 1865 the 13th Amendment to the Constitution abolishing slavery in the then 36 states of the United States was ratified by 2/3 of the states. Here Senator Henry Wilson outlines and summarizes the procedure for passing and ratifying constitutional amendments. In this case the 13th Amendment passed congress and was signed by President Lincoln on January 30, 1865 by a 3/4 majority vote and then went to the states for ratification which was announced Dec. 18, 1865. This became know as one of the 3 slavery Amendments to the Constitution, the other 2 being the 14th and 15th Amendment; giving citizenship regardless of race, and voting rights to all men regardless of race.'
