If the uptick in division was generated from afar, they are surely toasting their success. Any domestic actors have to be more discreet to preserve the concept of them being "friendlies". It's a profit center and involves media, but they measure their return on investment by the level of division vice revenue. Likely because bad actors fear a near total population united, educated, and aware of the threat.

There are a lot of pissed off people, seemingly every 4 years. This continuous opposition at the top needs a cooling off. The citizens may or may not act in similar fashion. My flexibility ends with changing the Constitution and being told to change my beliefs. Taking away one's beliefs is a no go. I don't envision that or trying to confiscate legal weapons would fly with a large majority of USA. That's "poking the bear" IMO.
