I've been hearing about "rooting out extremists and white supremacists" for 16 years. They haven't done anything yet. The IG report in the Air Force showed racism in their promotions. There's been extremists of all types for years in our ranks.

SFC (Join to see) The Gangs in the Military Wikipedia article is a decent source of information with good sources.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gang_presence_in_the_United_States_military

Here is a DoDI on the matter. How up to date it is, I do not know.

The 2015 FBI Report is useless, with the 2013 report with a fair amount of information.

SSG Robert Webster - Thanks for these sources. My decades of recovery from PTSD had me letting go of what the reality of being in the military was. There are so many wonderful people in the military that it is sad - and a national security problem - that the military does not have a better ethics and training system. The Confucian Art of War would perhaps be a good place to start. The military bias should be against war as a means of solving conflicts, which some good generals have always acquired. Instead they are I suppose often seduced by defense contractors and power. But what would I know, I am only a Corpsman!

Lunacy - that reminds me, in this time of stress, perhaps I can find some old MASH reruns.

As is typical of the US military, they start dealing with a problem only after it has become highly visible. This is the same way they started dealing with sexual harassment and assault and race. It's not about getting rid of the problem, it's about being seen as managing the problem until the scrutiny goes away.
