I find this interesting! I guess if you are here illegally you can’t be discriminated against in hiring? Not long ago it was illegal to hire people here illegally and businesses had signs in windows that they E Verified immigration status. According to US code 1324a it is illegal to knowingly hire an illegal alien so what am I missing?

Was the individual "illegal?" The article did not say if he had a green card or not, only that he was not a citizen nor a lawful permanent resident. That does not mean he was illegal.

MSG Stan Hutchison - That includes H1N1 vises. These are being used to reduce salaries f highly skilled individuals and screw the visa holders. One individual I knew, a really smart, competent person was being paid about1/3 less than Americans doing the same job. He was so pissed when he found out!

LTC David Brown - That is what upsets me with the entire immigration system. We would not have the mass illegal problem if there were no jobs for them. The businesses that hire the illegals is the major problem, not the immigrants themselves. Go after the businesses.
I have been trying to follow one case. A few years back Walmart was busted for hiring illegals. They were fines a huge amount. They appealed, the fine was lowered. They appealed again and the fine was lowered again. I don't know if they ever actually paid any fine.

MSG Stan Hutchison - For me it is two pronged. Employers should get fined. but borders should be protected. A LOT of illegal aliens end up on welfare. I am tired of the idea that every one should be able just walk in. The idea that enforcing laws is racist is ridiculous. We had a contractor that lived in a large house in an exclusive sub division. He was occupying the house wit 10 to 15 illegal aliens. He drove reputable contractors out of business, eventually he got caught and because of tax violations. He used to get big breaks in supplies from businesses selling to contractors. Every one in the trades knew what he was doing!. Then we have the cost of illegal aliens in our jails. Califor spends several billion dollars a year taking care of the. 13% of convicts in federal prison are illegal aliens from what I have read. It could be related to it occurring in California (not sure what a State law mandating hiring of illegal aliens would have to do with the Federal government). In Florida, the State has a requirement that you are either a US Citizen, or here legally to be hired by the State.
