I don't live for the "empty promises of an eternity". I believe in Jesus Christ, believe there's a Heaven, and that I'll be there someday, but following the teachings of the Bible makes me a much better person than I was before I became a Christian, and that's my motivation. Is that belief just a placebo? Doesn't really matter. If it's true, I'm there; if not, I won't care, will I? But in the meantime, I am happy and am satisfied with my life, which wasn't so for many decades. And for the most part, I don't believe "any crackpot" will sway folks who live as Christians are instructed to in the Bible. If you are serious about the life, you'll do serious study not just follow anyone with a collar - or without (Jim Jones, Koresh, others). We are warned about them in the Bible, "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravening wolves". I don't know the heart or fate of casual Christians. But one cannot develop a deep understanding of anything without committed, ongoing study and unless they do, they're fodder for crackpots. But that's not Christianity's' fault, it's the individual's choice.

And please, I'm not posting to engage in or am interested in a debate, whether it's true or not. Believe what you want; matters not at all to me. I'm just stating my opinion, not soliciting an argument.

And yet most of the people I know who have done intense, committed, ongoing study of the Bible end up deconverting to become atheists. Why is that?

Ignoring concerns of the world? Getting your reward?

Once again a misleading humanistic video. I do not know this Christian fellow in your video, but he is talking about surrendering one's life in this world to that which created you. It is accepting the only way to heaven is through Christ covering your sins as a sin offering. But you know all this and still desire to denigrate those who desire to live their lives as G-d the Father in Christ's name desires them to do so.

For Christians, G-d knows what is best for them. Their job, their house, or no house and their health. If G-d is in charge of their lives and knows what is best for them, they will do G-d's bidding for G-d's glory. We, like your boy Lucifer, turned our backs on G-d's laws. We became fallen creatures in need of redemption. G-d did not do this to us. Like your boy Old Knob, whom you follow, we chose this non perfect body for ourselves. Now, we pay.

We pay with suffering, lack of health, hate, meanness, false witness (you know that one well), a short life span...

Cpl Mark A. Morris - are you saying that a murderer can't go to heaven?

The real bad ideas were started by the Old Testament's murdering dictator.
