It's a fine line. Yes, absolutely, communication is important. But information overload is a real thing, too. Not everyone needs to know everything. Tailoring your communication to the individual or group is vital. In Army terms, the Fire Team doesn't need the BN OpOrd, and giving them all that information just muddies the water on their specific mission. Let your troops (or your workers/employees, in the civilian sector) know what is going on, and give them all of the relevant and pertinent information that impacts them, their job performance, their mission readiness, and their ability to execute. Provide consistent and constructive feedback regularly. Update them as new information becomes available. But don't bog them down with irrelevant data or personal thoughts or feelings.
