I would prefer to see the DoD get trademarks for their logos and go after the groups that appropriate the logos in court for damages.

Side note based on your comment: Former Congressman Duncan Hunter received a cease-and-desist letter back in 2019 based on his misuse of USMC logo and slogan in political campaign mailings

Marines order Duncan Hunter to stop using Corps emblem in campaign
The California Republican used the Marine Corps emblem in a campaign mailer that tied his Democratic opponent and two Democratic congresswomen to terror.

When are we going to stop allowing crazy people to decide what is acceptable and/or steal our history?

My question is who is calling this an extremist group? Southern Poverty Law? Jewish Defense League? Libertarians' are not extremist in the context they are using it.

CPT Lawrence Cable - Southern Poverty law Center is a disgrace. Employees got rid of the founder because he sexually harassed them and was a racial bigot. They were successfully sued for libel.

I know I have already said it but that is a cool logo. If they would have had it when I was an ODA CDR I would not have gotten the tattoo then but now that I am old and retired I would get it, right beside the one that says I love my Mom.
