Grant’s colleague Phil Tetlock discovered that when we think and talk (and scan social media), we tend to slip into the mindsets of three different professions: preachers, prosecutors, and politicians.

Very hard sometimes to stay openminded. One "trick" is to argue the viewpoint of the other side.

Excellent, that is a great way to see things from the other side. A great way to try to understand your opposition, and help you predict the questions you will be asked. Most importantly it help you prevent tunnel vision, and only see something your way.
