Interesting article. I have had both semesters as my commander/boss and have found that it doesn't matter what the plumbing is as long as the leader is fair handed.

I think there is much less bias than we imagine.

It depends on which organization we are looking at in my opinion.

I think that really depends on who you ask.

I believe that if you ask a traditionally discriminated against person (women, POC, LGBTQIA+, etc.) how much bias there is and compare it to ACTUAL bias, then there is less bias than we imagine.

If you ask a straight white dude how much bias there is and compare it to ACTUAL bias, there is WAY MORE bias than we imagine.

Straight white dudes don't experience the bias very often - to the point where they can all remember that one time they TOTALLY lost a job on some diversity hire bull shit. And because they don't experience it, they don't RECOGNIZE IT that well, either.

On the other hand, most of the other groups are so USED TO being actually discriminated against, that MANY members (not all, but enough to be statistically significant) automatically see bias and discrimination in everything.

The truth lies somewhere in between. Yes, it happens. And it happens quite a bit. But not all the time, and not every time. Sometimes the dice really show snake eyes. Other times, they are box cars and you are just looking at them wrong.
