Thank you for the history. I was stationed on Okinawa back in 1978 and 1979, went on the tour of Shuri Castle, the cemetery on the cliff face where many Japanese and Okinawains threw themselves off. The site has monuments to all the people who were involved in the battle. Also saw the entrance to the command bunker, but no one was allowed inside because it is also a tomb. Beautiful place but walking those trails was kind of eeriy.

I never did see one and I worked nites on runway lites. The only 1 I ever saw was in a cage with a mongoose

I only went once and that was enough, I am a farm kid and didn't like what I saw.

I remember it well after getting out of the hospital they didn’t send me back to Vietnam I had three months left so I had to spend six months on this island I’m sure it’s changed a lot sense I was there in 1968.
