On April 14, 43 BC, at the Battle of Forum Gallorum, Mark Antony, besieging Julius Caesar's assassin Decimus Junius Brutus in Mutina, defeated the forces of the consul Pansa who was killed. When Hirtius was killed at the Battle of Mutina, Octavian received both men'' legions. The Roman Senate proclaimed Mark Antony an enemy of the state.
