Really? Put the federal government in the hands of a single state? I don't think so. There was a reason, a very good reason, DC was set outside of statehood. And it is written in the Constitution.

Exactly! Or Guam. Okinawa used to be in that list but we gave it back to Japan. We also have American Samoa. But let's ignore all these great places that *could* be granted statehood in favor of mucking up the Constitution and our federal government.

PO2 (Join to see) I don't doubt Democrats want the additional 2 Senate seats... but DC has mor people than 3-4 smaller states put together. Fair representation should rule here. IMO...Z

DC was never supposed to be a place to live, only a place to work. All of the residential areas need to go back to the respective states. Constitution calls for DC to be no more than 10 square miles.

"To exercise exclusive Legislation in all Cases whatsoever, over such District (not exceeding ten Miles square) as may, by Cession of particular States, and the Acceptance of Congress, become the Seat of the Government of the United States"

SFC Casey O'Mally - Could well be... it appears you're well versed in the subject so I'll take your word for it. Thanks for the comment.
