Am I missing something? How is this allowed? Leave is earned and now commanders are saying if you're unvaccinated, no leave or passes and you're non-deployable. I want no parts of the COVID vaccine, but if it's going to cost me my leave or career, guess I'm getting it. And for the record, people like this shouldn't be in leadership positions. Yes, Leave is earned. But...the Commander still has authority to grant or deny Leave. In this case, he is using medical/mission readiness as justification. Let's say there is a BN of 800 troops. Of that 800, 750 chose not to get the shot and went on Leave in areas designated high risk for contraction and became positive for COVID. That entire BN is now non mission capable. Granted, this is worst case scenario, but the principle is there.

Commanders do not have the authority to deny leave for not getting the vaccine. It’s a voluntary vaccine.

MSG (Join to see) - He was warned after the third time he got his barrel rodded, the paperwork was being debated by 1SG and the Commander when the 5th happened. He absolutely was a skank, and we all told him condoms were free at the aid station, he just refused to use one. He learned after 45 and 45.

It's the military sir. Respectfully they do what they want and it likely won't be challenged. Especially when it's a MG that's "leading the way" with this policy.

I had to get the Anthrax vaccines series prior to a deployment. If I refused, I would not have deployed (also would not have remained in the Army). There was a threat that warranted requiring the vaccine, albeit a small threat, so it was deemed mandatory. We're in the middle of a global pandemic! There's literally nowhere in the world you could deploy where you would not be expose to COVID.

1LT (Join to see) I had over 2 years of Anthrax shots they were determined to be mandatory by the Army. COVID has been determined to not be mandatory by the Army, only by this commander. What code would he use to determine his people non deployable?
