Great post! I would also add (referencing number one) that even older then the Army is the Army National Guard having a birthday December 13, 1636, tracing its roots back to the original colonial militias.
I have always thought that since the original colonial Army stood up from these militias (and the fact that the Army National Guard is part of the Army) that this should be the actual birthday of the U.S. Army as a whole.
Also, while correct that "Specialist" is the most common rank in the U.S. Army, the rarest rank is: Chief Warrant Officer Five (CW5).
