Still think a stiff ruck march would be the best way to determine fitness, both physically and mentally. It’s low tech and it doesn’t require much, it’ll stress the body and it’ll definitely stress your mind. If your prone to quit or be a slacker a ruck march will find you. Pull-ups or push-ups a short run is nothing, the minimum standards are ridiculous. I hated humping that thing, but if you can do that you can do most things within reason.

Have a guy that is super fast and do lots of push ups. He cannot pull him self up a rope or a wall.
You missing the point. Just because you are good at something doesn't make it a good.
The test is to ensure you can do basics movements and skills. It is up to the Soldier and the Soldier unit to increase the Soldier capabilities.

You want to be tested out for morego SF or Ranger!
