Ford's Billion Dollar 'Chicken Tax' Problem

Ford faces over a billion dollar import tax over fraud involving the Ford Transit Connect vans. Long story short, the vans were imported into the country as passenger vehicles which was on a 2.5% import tax, however, Ford was converting them to cargo vans (25% import tax) once they got in the country by removing the windows and seats making them panel vans for commercial use.

Who doesn't customize their cars. And, it's not like the work was done out of the country.

True but, they did this to get out of paying the huge import tax on the vehicles knowing what they were doing was illegal. What they should have done was sell an after market kit for the consumer to do it their self.
