There are some foolish posters here who claim Russia was a paper tiger in WWII. Hitler was doing fine until he decided to pick on the big boys (Russia and America). The big boys would eventually kick Hitler's ass. That's what happens when you want to fight every country.

The Japanese decided their army would occupy many locations in the Pacific region but the plan was very much flawed because the logistical support became more difficult as the war progressed. Once we destroyed all her aircraft carriers the game was over. The Japanese could not support her army in such a great area.

Instead of the Pacific, the Germans had Russia. It is a vast country with brutal winters. Logistics trains had to be very long to support the German armies in Russia. Resupplying the German armies was a challenge due to distance, lack or good infrastructure, the "muddy season", and bitter winters. The Germans would eventually use planes to resupply the 700,000 German army at Stalingrad. This method of resupply was very inadequate. The German army at Stalingrad was worn out and lacked the supplies to keep fighting. They were fighting on fumes. When the fumes ran out, they all surrendered.

The Wehrmacht had predicted that if they had not destroyed the Soviet Union by 1943 . The Red Army would chew them up. The T34 was the ultimate tank for that war. The Tiger was too classy and American Tanks were just moving targets. By the end of the war there was a T34 on every corner

Honest historians recognize that the Red Army consumed the Wehrmacht, MAJ Ken Landgren. Our Battle of the Bulge was just another battle by Red Army standards.
