If 35% of males make it through this training and so far 14/18 of women have washed out, are taxpayers getting the best bang for the buck?
How long are we going to go on pretending that men and women are equally fit to take on the role of combat soldiers? If they can't compete equally in sports and TG's are dominating women's sports and destroying the competition in track, MMA, and weightlifting, why would we expect combat to be any different?
In reality, combat would only serve to highlight the difference as we find more women killed on the battlefield. And the consequence of them being captured and becoming POWs just ups the ante. How is the public going to stomach the thought of our women being raped and abused by our enemies? In Islam, the women of infidels are given to Muslim men as the spoils of war. Believers are encouraged to use them as they see fit and to 'plow them like fields.' Who in their right mind would volunteer to subject themselves to that? Screw PC. I'm just going to tell it like it is. You can downvote me and report me if you feel so inclined... but I can only speak to my experience with women in the Marines.
Am I against women serving in the Armed Forces? Absolutely not. They make great contributions and in certain fields, they do better than men. Logistics is a field that requires the ability to multitask and juggle schedules to make sure everything arrives on time. Men tend not to multitask as well as women. I was an Avionics tech in my early days and in that MOS the women have the ability to do as well as the men... BUT! When it came time to do the dirty work that nobody wanted to do, the women found ways of getting out of it. The TACANs that I worked on weighed 43 lbs. I would typically carry two at a time, picking broken equipment up or dropping repaired equipment off at Production Control, located in the hangar about a block away from the avionics van complex. The women didn't even want to carry one of them, so they'd ask me to take theirs for them. In return, I'd ask them to do my paperwork because although I could do it as quickly as them, I figured it was a fair trade if they were going to get me to do their work for them.
Women want to be one of the guys until they find out it sucks, and then they turn back into women. When deployments came up and they found out how much it sucked being on ship or overseas, they'd get pregnant so they didn't have to deploy. It didn't matter if they were married or not. We had one in our shop do that... and she wasn't married. She just had a boyfriend and didn't want to leave him so she got herself knocked up. Besides screwing the unit, what that does is screw the detailer over because now they have to jump through hoops to find a replacement, and usually what happens is that they have to short-tour someone that recently got back from overseas and send them out again. If the guy is married, that really screws him and his family. It's not fair to the guys to be expected to pick up the slack for people you expect to do what they signed on to do, and that means doing what's expected -- even the jobs you don't really like, including deployments you don't want to go on.
Men have no excuse, and women have the pregnancy card or any host of periodic ailments of a female nature that they can use to get out of work they don't want to do. I simply don't think women are up to the rigorous demands of combat MOS's and their presence in combat units is a distraction for the men. I don't know... maybe guys aren't as chauvinistic as they used to be, but when you put women in combat units, you aren't doing the men any favors. You're introducing distractions amongst the men that will take their minds off their duties, or make them yearn for what they don't have.
When I was at TBS, we had another company that was an experiment with integrating women. I was in Fox Company and it was all male. Golf Company had women in it and they were right behind us in training. When it came time for their "Nine-Day War," where you stay out in the field for 9 days without a shower and have only MRE's to eat, the girls were pretty rough looking and they probably weren't smelling their best... but it didn't stop two LT's from getting together right in the middle of the Attack on Combat Town. While everyone was training and in the midst of a firefight with MILES gear and riot control gas, a male and female stole away and got lost in the tunnels connecting the buildings. They were busy making out and feeling each other up when one of the instructors happened to run up on them. He simply said, "Hey, put that away and get out there!" Instead of making a scene and embarrassing them further, he waited to tell his story at the Hawk (O-Club) over beers. Hey, it's just your professional reputation and the Corps is small enough that in your MOS and amongst your peers, everyone knows everyone. There are fewer than 7 degrees of separation. More than likely somebody knows somebody that knows you and they sit on the promotion boards.
For the above-stated reasons, I'm not a fan of women in combat. I'm also not a fan of lowering standards for women. Combat is the standard we must measure ourselves by and women aren't giving taxpayers the best bang for the buck. The rigors of combat don't get less for women and women wash out and get injured more often. Even when they're not in combat, they spend more time in sickbay than the men. A country that's $28.5 Trillion in debt can't afford this kind of social experimentation.
It's not just about Susie wanting to be a Navy SEAL... Nobody is asking the wives of the other Navy SEALS how they would feel if their husband got killed because their unit got slowed down by the females who were struggling to keep up, or because he was having to pick up the slack and carry the load his female partner was having a hard time with.
These are the politically incorrect and inconvenient truths that must be dealt with and are we ready as a society to acknowledge and deal with this reality.

Jeff I spent a lot of years in SOF in my latter years I felt strongly that if women wanted to be a part of the program give it a shot. HOWEVER!!! The attrition rate is fucking high for men that are fit, it is high for a reason. What we regularly ask of our Special Operators when become part of the community is pretty incredible. So back to what I was saying I have no problem with a women wearing a green beret or a navy trident or whatever she has the stones get. There is one caveat, SHE HAS TO MEET THE EXACT SAME STANDARDS AS ALL THE MEN. Some people may thank that is sexist and I say absolutely not, I am a realist I want my cardio thoracic Surgeon to have the highest skill level not one for women and one for men. Stop and think about it yall I am old and somewhat broken I dont give a shit if you have a penis or a vagina I want the mission to get completed. With that understand the standards are there for a reason. My last tour I worked with a female Government agent and she was a killer. I never heard her say once, I am a women or my vagina is sore, not once. What I did see her do is exploit objectives, gather intelligence work assets etc.... When she had to go back to the states she sheepishly said she enjoyed it. Unexpected to her I gave her a full OER, Army Award and said if she ever found her self back in the shit to look around I might be there. I told her if we ever found ourselves in the same AO she would always have a desk. She is a warrior! Not a girl warrior is a warrior.

Oh last thing they (the powers that be) need to fucking stop putting this out to the news. It was never in the paper when I did anything, it should be the same for them. Its part of the business, if you are in shape and can live with that get some if not stay where you are.

My biggest concern with female combatants is the last thirty or more years of any conflict, the ability for personal hygiene was little more than 24hrs away. Boys can go weeks without bathing and we only get crotch rot. Females because of their warm, dark, moist environment likes to grow bugs and I worry when personal hygiene is further away of what might happen. Pertain certain E CO, 506th did not take a shower during the Battle of the Bulge and probably only changed socks. Nasty and a great chance for toxic shock syndrome.

There have been exceptional women in history and Joan of Arc's are an extremely rare find. I believe they are best handled by exception rather than the rule. The military is a one-size fits all kind of organization and just like our school systems, they try to make sure everyone is taught to a certain standard and gets through. And just as our schools have lowered standards and are now padding test scores to make it appear as though students are equally smart, the proof is in the pudding. The Progressive Left is all about science till science disagrees with their narrative and then they turn to politics or the court system to get their way.
Science tells us there are two sexes, but Progressives tell us that sex and gender are two different things and that one's gender is whatever they think it is. And we're slaves of political correctness. A friend of mine is studying at NC State and he's in their PhD program in engineering. As a PhD student he gets paid to teach and he used the word retard in a sentence and someone reported him. The context in which he used it had to do with preventing knocking by retarding combustion so that it occurs just before top dead center. Perfectly legit, but in the interest of political correctness one of his retarded students was offended by the word retard and got him in trouble. They told him he can't use the word gun and that he should use the word cannon instead. And it's not a bullet but a projectile. This is how stupid we've gotten over the years. We fuss over words and things that in the big scheme of things really don't matter.
What really does matter is whether Susie can hack it and the vast majority of Susie's can't. We're wasting our time running women through SOF schools just because they want to try it. If we make it open so that any woman can put in for it, the washout rate will be very high. If an exceptional woman wants to go through the training, she should request a waiver and those recommending should have every assurance that she has what it takes to not only finish the training, but to do well. By handling this using waivers, it ensures that the curriculum isn't being changed to accommodate the women, nor are the obstacles and requirements being dumbed down so they can hack it. I still think that there are other issues that must be considered such as unit cohesion that's going to get disrupted when you put a woman like that in with a bunch of alpha males...
So, the long and short of it is that I'm with you. I understand that there are a FEW women who are rare exceptions that can hack it better than some guys. They are rare exceptions to the rule and this government agent you worked with was one of them. What you're describing is CIA, Special Agent kind of stuff, not your typical military application. Find me a woman that can hump a mortar baseplate along with her kit up and down the mountains of Afghanistan... and after a few years of that, I'll show you someone with bad hips/knees looking for a medical retirement.
