My dad was in the first group of white replacements to the 24thID. in Korea. He said those 'Bug Out' stories were all made up by bigots.

Our Dad was called up after WWII with 19th of 24 ID. Got hit in New Year's Offensive 50/51. He wouldn't talk about much, but the Chinese unleashed 800,000 southbound on 12/31/50.

What a wonderful World if we all abided by the Golden Rule. It removes a lot of grey areas.

My father fought in one of the first integrated infantry units in 1950 in Korea. An Iowa farm boy, he felt more affinity to the mainly rural African Americans than the mainly Italian and Irish kids from the cities, and got along well with the Black soldiers.
