Because no one pays attention, no one knows the transmission rate of this virus regardless of the varriant. The only accurate thing we can go off is hospitalizations which is what I've been telling people for so long to look at. It doesn't matter if people are getting sick as much as those ending up in the hospital. People get sick every fall and winter and a small fraction of those who get sick end up going to the er and out of those another fraction pass away each season.

I agree with you most of the way. The data does exist where possible meaningful evaluations can be completed but for some reason our government won't put the data together.

SFC (Join to see) because of politics. From the start every politican should have stayed out of covid since the shutdowns. Everything that happens in this country even if it's a international issue gets absorbed into a freaking culture wars. I'm not blaming one side of the other I'm blaming both and all. If this pandemic hadn't come around an election year things may have been different but who knows. Science and public health can't work independently and transparently because everyone is scared how it will make them look. Put your people before you're political career.

Since thus variant was compared to chicken pox that makes it's R naught (R0) is10-12.. So 1 infected person can start can start a chain of infection like this: 1 infects 10 they infect100 those 100 infect1000 then 10,000 then 100,00 and on and on and on. That's the chain with a R0 of 10.

What a lot of you folks don't realize is a PCR test can take 24 hours to days to get your report back. I may be even more with this wave of infection. The other tests are 50-50. All of this means we will never know the true number of infections or breakthrough infections but the number we know of is the baseline. The true number will be much higher.
