SGT (Join to see) - Yes, but the United States is also the first nation in History that I know of to put into writing the words that "All men are created equal," which marked the beginning of the end of slavery. It didn't happen at a quick pace but there has to be a start somewhere.

Everywhere else in the world slavery was common place, that didn't make it right, but that was the reality of the day. If your leaders decided there was something they wanted from a particular local they invaded and to the victor go the spoils and that included the taking of slaves.
