To me, "stranded" means, at present, I have been left without the means to move from somewhere. When the US Embassy in Kabul advised Americans on 21 Aug to NOT attempt a trip to the airport, all Americans in Afghanistan who wanted to leave where they were and get to the airport, were effectively stranded. They could not move, safely. Now, no one doubts that the Biden administration desires and hopes to get all Americans out who want to get out. But that does not mean they are not stranded today.

We have our citizens in trouble, why are we not spinning up for a massive rescue operation? We have Rangers, the 82nd and a slew of other units that can sieze an airport to land more troops. Somebody dust off the Greneda OPORD, and lets get this moving!
"Stranded Americans" should be answered with "we are on the way."

And so it begins ISIS-K has attacked US personnel at the airport and UK forces at a hotel - but remember this is going according to plans and no one is "stranded". Intel was on the money tracking ISIS-K moving fighters and materials for the bombs from Nangarhar and Kunar provinces to areas around the airport.
