Really? What a waste of time and resources. Nothing stops those people or their children from wearing masks should they choose to do so.

I sure love how you fools act like you have a degree in infectious disease control. Maybe you should of spent a year or so wearing MOPP-4 to learn how masks save lives!!!!!!!!!!! Anyone who thinks civil rights matter in a pandemic is a fool!! Win the battle first and then you can piss and moan while your still alive to do so!!!!!!!!

LOL. I was the chief of engineering for chem-bio defense at Brooks. A properly sealed chem mask must meet at least an E3 standard, meaning for every 1,000 PPM outside the mask, just 1 PPM can enter the mask. A mask certified for Bio must meet at least an E4 standard...10,000 to 1 ratio. Your cloth face covering does not even provide a 2:1 ratio. More than half of whatever is out there is still getting in. But wear a mask if it makes you feel better. The word "pandemic" is not enough for me to give up my liberties. Is it for you?

Col Joseph Lenertz - I'm glad you are an engineer and can do what the medical personnel tell you that they need for bio-defense. They don't tell you how to engineer the chem or bio masks, or the filtration systems, etc. You shouldn't be telling them what medical procedures to use to stop the spread of disease. BTW, under 100 deaths was enough to confine Mary Mallon to an island in the middle of the East River for almost 30 years. It doesn't matter whether you think that it's good enough or not.

My dad was an engineer who at one point was working on the team developing a prototype hypervelocity fire-and-forget anti-tank missile that was intended to replace both the TOW-II and the Maverick missiles. For the ground unit, the engineers with no combat experience wanted the system self-test to have about a dozen position to go through. My dad and others with time as grunts, wanted the end user (a PFC/SPC) to push one button and get either a go or no-go.

Don't be the guy that F's up the world for the rest of us because you have the idea that you're smarter than the doctors. You may very well be smarter, but it still isn't your field.

Col Joseph Lenertz SFC Randy Hellenbrand - The point of a protective mask (gas mask) is entirely different than a mask worn to minimize aerosol spread. Not a great comparison, but point well taken.

Col Lenertz - Do you have the numbers on aerosol distribution with and without a face covering mask? Would you like them? Also, I am curious if you feel stopping at stop signs and/or red lights is a violation of your "liberties"?

Do people have a right to spread disease?

Col Joseph Lenertz - That's an ignorant response, unless you are considering charging the officials who ban masks with conducting biological warfare.

Col Joseph Lenertz - And what of those unintentionally or unknowingly spreading disease. Or just doing so on a small, lets say, individual scale. Do they have a right to do so?
Does the public have a right to demand protection from those unknowingly or unintentionally spreading disease?

I have heard it said that ignorance of the law is no excuse. Is ignorance of a disease or the potential to spread and carry a disease an excuse?

And what of my right to walk around naked in the supermarket or other public spaces, as god made me, with no shame. Do I have a right to do that? And if not, why not? Because some might be offended? Is spreading offense worse than spreading disease?

I know of no jurisdiction that has *banned* masks.
