We still shouldn't hold him responsible for the behavior of his ancestors.

Ok. I'm sure most of us could find slaveowners in our ancestry.

Are you stating your family had slaves?
I disagree with you. Many have ancestors who came to the US after 1865, lived in areas where slavery was not common such as the West, or the ancestors were either poor or against slavery.
The vast majority of slaves were in the South working on plantations or large farms. While slaves were present in the North, by the early 1800s, many had been released. Even then, the vast number of citizens in the area we now call the USA did not have slaves.

MSG (Join to see) -Our ancestors could have owned slaves in any number of countries. I'm pretty sure there is not a single country that didn't have slavery at some point. I have no idea if my family had slaves or not. If they did, so what? Does it really matter 150 years later?

1) Slavery matters. It is a point of discussion pushed by liberals that is heard almost everyday. Among other things, there are demands for reparations, demands that Critical Race Theory be taught, demands that Forts with civil war heroes names be re-named, demands that civil war statues be removed, demands that Universities and governments with past ties to slave owners get rid of the Statutes, etc. Demands that slave owners such as Washington be erased from history, etc
2) While every Country in the World has had slavery at one time or another, I have been told many times by liberals including here on RP that we live in the USA and should focus on the slavery that occurred here even if it originated elsewhere.
