The draught is killing the beef industry here in SD. Or at least severely damaging it. My daughter and son-in-law had to sell off many head of cattle they would have normally held for another year. No water equals less feed equals sell cattle. The beef market got flooded, so the prices dropped drastically. However, that did not relate to what you pay for that ribeye steak at your local supermarket.

Average price this week for beef on the hoof is $1.67 a pound.
Average price nation wide for ribeye steak $12-$25 a pound.
Average price for ground beef is $4.38

Don't blame the rancher.

Most goes to the middleman and packers. There are to few processors left in this country and most small Locker plants have a hard time keeping up with the regs and finding help to do the job.

Never did. Used to complain about the price of crab legs till I saw that show on discovery. Of course I haven't touched fish or seafood since 2015 after my gastric bypass surgery. Only regained my taste for bacon this year.

Add "Food/Chow" and "Supply Chain Management" as tags. People often don't realize how complicated it is to organize raw produce, meat or other products for delivery to grocery stores

Hmmm. Let's shut down for 2 weeks. Nope - let's make it 6 months. And we have a supply chain problem? Tell me it ain't so! I guess the government paid faery folk were supposed to step in and keep the supply chain going.

And with the various mandates coming from Biden it will only get worse. All hail King Biden!

Of course it’s not Biden. However, if Trump had won a second term it would be completely his fault.

You apparently missed that this is a world wide situation. I realize you mist blame Biden for everything, but it would help if you understood the situation.
