Since the goal is actually protection (and the thought was from the government) the 2nd amendment intention was clearly to update weapons as they progressed. And arguing that means nuclear or tanks is silly; those are not normally used against one's own civilian population by an Army of those same civilians. And maybe this will slow down those courts who keep trying to "remake" the country in the name of social justice but who knows?

I love the commercial of the guy that went into an office building with a single shot self loading musket riffle and everybody had time to run away before he got the riffle loaded lol.... you know, to she what weaponry was like when the Constitution was written... It's not rocket science, the second amendment would read differently to adjust for the the advancement of weapons, if it were written today.... there is just no doubt that the men who wrote it would have taken this into consideration.

It seems that the DC Supreme Court & the firearm statistics don't agree with your premises.
Overbearing and severe gun control only limits the Constitutional & law-abiding Americans, consequently giving the actual criminals out-there, free rein over everyone, us... this is because criminals act the way they do because they don't care about law & order. So, why are more law abiding Americans being accosted, arrested and some even having jail time for our basic American right that's in our actually in our Constitution, but, is now only wrongly & unconstitutionally limited by the state and county municipalities? However, because of the Supremacy Clause and our United States Constitution - these documents ensure that the Constitution will always have Supremacy over any State, or County Supplemental laws. It's kind of like the old military saying "you can add too it, but you can never take away",
The 'men who wrote it'... the Constitution - most certainly WOULD NOT have written it differently if they could see in the future, as you implied.
Why?
There is no other interpretation of the Constitutional Second Amendment that is more definite than the Second Amendment! Because it's the only Amendment at the very end that actually states "the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed"!
A statement like that is most certainly not a lukewarm statement. Just the opposite! This was probably the most succinct, highly lifted-up right... or to state it differently; the Founding Fathers have highlighted this right as the most basic of All rights that Americans have. They wanted a blatant bias toward bearing arms to be THE thing that all Americans are known for having as the pinnacle of all their civil rights! The right to always defend themselves!

Absolutely correct. Remember where Justice Scalia died?? Sure sounds like somebody was in the pocket of the gun industry to me.
