14-year-old accused of shooting at LAPD officer in South Los Angeles
A 14-year-old suspect is in custody and is accused of firing shots at a Los Angeles Police Department officer who was on his way to work in South LA Thursday morning, officials said.
The officer was driving to work in his personal vehicle to the Newton Station located near the intersection of South Central Avenue and Jefferson Boulevard when someone opened fire at him and ran from the scene. The officer was wounded and managed to drive himself to the police station where he made an officer needs help call.
Officers located the teen suspect in the area and he was taken into custody. A gun was also recovered at the scene.
