Exactly what I want from Cabinet level executives. Taking a month off at a time, with vows for more leave in the near future.

These positions come with a ton of perks and pay to make up for the stress, responsibility, and expectations. Nice to see that being shat upon by taking the perks and pay but shirking the responsibility and expectations.

When you have competent staff under you one can take time off for personal matters. A concept that most on the extreme right won't, or can't, understand.

Sir, I completely agree with you.

But I also think there are limits for the time off. At a certain point, if the competent staff is capable without you for so long, then why do we need you in the first place? I think how long is too long depends on the position, and there is no set time, as each job, position, and staff is different. But there is a point at EVERY position where this is true.

I also worry about both optics (from an administration / political math viewpoint) and responsibility to the taxpayer who is, after all, paying Mayor Pete regardless of whether or not he shows up to work.

Mayor, Pete is in way over his head in a big deep pond. But then again it seems the whole administration is going down and there are no straws to grab. Has Kamala been to the border lately?
