I would drive an electric pickup if it were affordable. Maybe some day.

Some day Sir and let's hope it's soon. I never can get over that the ultra rich don't see the advantage of providing both renewable and fossil fuel at the same tome to continue to make their millions.

The whale oil barons fought Kerosene as the horse breaders fought the internal combustion engine, they're all long forgotten today.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen - Absolutely and that is my whole point Sir. Oh, there is something again stirring on a hydrogen cell powered vehicle. When did W. promise that to us again???

Biden said during his interview on CNN that we were going to put up 500,000 new charging stations.... I don't have a clue, but I would guess that they will trade out your batteries for ones already charged up.... I also don't have any idea how long it takes to fully charge batteries.... perhaps they can do it quickly now....

SFC (Join to see) Exactly my concerns, I see EVs for driving to work, but how many of us have a second car for trips or want to stop at Costco for around 1 1/2 hours for a trip to grandmas?

I’m not against the evolution of automobiles. I’m against the government mandating it because if we’re going to be forced into it, there’s no reason for the motor companies to make them the best possible option and push the old systems out of the marketplace. They will have captive consumers. The car replaced the horse because it became a better form of transportation. Further, faster, more cargo. The digital camera has, for the most part, replaced film. Better resolution, not as many lenses, easily edited. These evolutions worked because there was a desire to make them better than their predecessors. A desire to make consumers want the product, not the government telling us “you’ll do this whether or not it’s better”. PFC David Foster

I used to charge lead acid batteries on submarines. Lithium-ion batteries are typically used on EV’s.
A greater loss in battery capacity was observed for the fast charged vehicles. All cars perform differently in extreme weather conditions, but EVs are especially at risk of battery issues in high and low temperatures. Cold weather can reduce your range in the short-term, while hot weather can reduce the overall battery life of your vehicle.
If your EV battery needs to be replaced, it can cost upwards of $5,000, depending on the make and model. Fortunately, all electric cars sold in the U.S. have a warranty on the battery pack that will cover you for at least eight years or up to 100,000 miles.
Search the internet for charging rates. The larger the battery capacity, the longer to fully charge. If you want to partially charge your battery to go home, it could take 20-40 minutes.
