I wonder how this assistant manager feels now? He doesn't like his job at the mill and he led all his friends into jobs they appear to like less. Some background: Bradford, Pa. is a very rural/agricultural County with nothing much around. It probably would have been better for them to honestly talk to the store owner instead of walking out with an ultimatum. I worked about 6 years for McDonald’s part to full time when I was in school. There are better places to work, but there are a hell of a lot worse places to work. MHO. When you lead someone, make sure you lead them in the right direction.

I grew up in a similar type of community. I worked orchards. I worked the fields I bucked hay. I worked cattle. I worked in a slaughterhouse. I made crap money. It motivated me to find better. It steered me to the military. I’ve been to a couple reunions and friends I grew up with are still there. Still making less than $20 an hour. Sometimes you find your station in life and sometimes it finds you. I can’t say I would have walked off the job. That’s not who I am but I would have found something better. I always did.

You and me both. Interesting enough my very first real job was in a slaughterhouse. During summers when I was between 6th & 7th, and 7th & 8th grades I worked clean up shift at a place called Brizer's Beef. We did everything. Things were different back then. Boy do I have stories. :) I worked with good people, we looked after one another.
