This situation is bogged down in many ways, i.e. "Burn Pit Registry", etc.

It's important that all Veterans who still battle service-connected health issues due to the Gulf War should actively and consistently seek help from the VA. The Veterans may contact the nearest VA Medical facility near them or call the VA health benefits hotline [login to see] Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. ET. Thank you!

That is good advice, but it doesn't always work that way. Several times I turned paperwork in and never heard any responses. There was a period of time when records were lost and then found stacked in a room in a basement of a hospital. Who knows if any of that PW ever got processed?

I remember when they wanted to start the Gulf War Database. I went and they took a lot of info from me. About a year later I heard they were starting up a Gulf War Database? I went and ask if this was the same one from last year? They knew nothing about any Gulf War Database but for the one they were working on and my name was not in it, So I enter it a 2nd time. When I was over in Germany about 2 year later they had a Gulf War database intake and I found out they were also taking spouse and kids born after the Gulf War that are having problems. I went to put my wife and the time and my son. They went to look me up in the system and I was not in the Gulf War Database and told me they don't know what database I was in but it was not the Gulf War Database. So for a 3rd time I gave all the info. But this time I ask for a print out showing that I was in the "GULF War Database". So I got the info on me my wife and my son. Showing the File number and ever thing. Now I was having all kinds of problems. When I was going to my Med Board they sent me over to the post hospital to make sure all the info was right in the Gulf War Database. Guess what They could not find me in it. Plus they told me that it was just for the GI. I show them the rec I had from the last one and they had no idea who or what that was. So I got put in a 4th time. So If you were put in the Gulf War Database before 1999, you might not be in the Gulf War Database.
One more thing. I would like to know it this happen to anyone else?
When I was station at Fort Gordon in 1999 they sent my wife and I to the post hospital to get a test (some thing doing with the Gulf War) They gave us a shot under our skin not in the mussel. they the drew a big circle around it and told us if we have any reaction to come right back but if nothing happens then your ok. The next day we went back, we both a a bad reaction. We went back to the same office and show them the bad reaction. They ask us what was that from? We told them it was from the shot we got from here the other day. They told us they did not give us any shoot in the office and they have no record us us ever being there. After getting the hospital advocacy involve we went back to that office and they said they don't know who we are and we did not go to their office. But they did look at the reaction and told us we don't know what you got but that looks like a normal reaction and we should not worry about it.
I was Medically discharge the Army only gave me 10% But a month later the VA gave me 70%. I should have been Medically Retired with all the benefits.
