I guess we pretty much owe the Native Americans that little stretch between the Atlantic and Pacific, north of Mexico and south of Canada LOL...

Yup, that's my position. One of the first things that you learn in your first year of law school, in Property, is that the tribes could not sell or otherwise convey real property to individuals, but that it could be taken from them by the government under a rule called the right of conquest. See Johnson & Graham's Lessee v. McIntosh, 21 U.S. (8 Wheat.) 543 (1823).

Basically, the Indians sold some people some land. The government granted the land to other people. The Supreme Court said that since the land was "conquered", it was no longer the Indians to sell.

See Walter R. Echo-Hawk, In the Courts of the Conqueror: The 10 Worst Indian Law Cases Ever Decided (Fulcrum Publishing, 2010).

I think we all owe each other that one. Native Indians learned alot in technology which they did not have. for the most part they were killing off each other. The Introduction to Economics and Technology made a difference. And plus, if it were for the Pilgrims that came, it would have been alot worse. Native Indians who have a grasp on history in a detailed sense will tell you. This information was stated to me by a drunk lost Navajo Indian, looking to get a place to stay, and find his relative in the US Army. Ironically of all things, I worked Communications, and his Grand Father is one of the Original Wind Talkers. So it really is a hand and hand deal. What we need is to get more accessibility with the Native to further embrace participation of the "white people." I know New Mexico has a tribe that is struggling with water concerns, I think a little sharing of technology would help them appericate "White People" (as they call it). take a look into it. If I had the Gov/Bus support I would get a jump on that.
