I agree 101%. No we don't. Better look out for the religious right however. Your supposed to do that multiplication thing according to them.

Add to that some should not become parents.

Before I got pregnant and then got married - my grandma was always asking me about my personal life. It was always "have you met anyone interesting?" She even asked me this in Iraq on my first deployment. I called home on Christmas and ended up talking to her and got "Have you met anyone interesting?" I told her Grandma that's not what I'm here for.

Then after I got divorced, she started asking me about if there were any single parents groups near where I lived at the time. I said grandma I don't have time for dating. "Well that's how I met your grandpa." (She's technically my stepgrandma. My bio grandma died from cancer before I was born. My grandpa married who i call grandma about a year later. She was a widow, he widower. He had five kids (well four one of my uncles died by a drunk driver) and she had five kids, much younger than my mom and her siblings. My mom and her sister already had kids so she became a grandma instantly. But she grew up in a different time. I have been independent my whole life, I had to take care of myself at a young age so I depend on myself. I actually don't mind being single and until my late 20s I didn't want kids at all.

But I would get it from other people "Why haven't you had kids? Why aren't you married?" Um...I don't want it. Pretty simple.

People shouldn't be pressured into marriage or parenthood.
