CNN fires Chris Cuomo for aiding his brother against sexual misconduct allegations

He broke the rules knowingly. I can't fault him for helping his brother but he had to know he was risking his employment.

I think the firing was unfair, but what isn't?

He can believe whatever he wants but you can’t use your companies assets or sources for personal gain. Like police are prohibited from using their system to lookup car plates that they are not officially investigating example his daughters new boyfriends plates. Or if you work at a hospital and your brother wants you to look at his wife record or his for that matter and get their cholesterol results but you are not his treating provider, can’t do it per policy and law. Very poor judgment and decision making on his part.
