I've been seeing this chart for YEARS. Not sure how it is "new."

On a related note, always save your 10. As soon as you rate something a 10 - meaning that your pain is as bad as it could possibly be - the universe senses a challenge. Getting shot with a broken collarbone and a collapsed lung was an 8. Save those high numbers, folks.

Nurse - what’s your pain level?

Me - about normal.

Nurse - on a scale of 1-10?

Me - about a 5 or 6.

Nurse - that’s not normal. Normal is 1.

Me - you’re not a veteran, are you?
