1SG (Join to see) Those Trumpublicans aren't smart enough to figure that out... even if they did... they wouldn't admit it.

"One of the most insidious myths that circulated this year was that young people did not want to work because they did very well with government assistance. People had too much money, according to the accounts of a handful of politicians and experts.

Here is the trick: Early retirement – whether forced by the pandemic or made possible otherwise – has a huge impact on the job market. And the data shows that retired baby boomers, far more than “lazy” millennials, are the main force behind the labor shortage.

People have left the workforce for a myriad of reasons over the past two years. But of those who have left and are the least likely to return, the vast majority are older Americans who have stepped up their retirement.

Last month, an additional 3.6 million Americans left the workforce and said they did not want a job compared to November 2019. 90% of them were over 55."...

I have no sympathy for businesses right now. They brought this upon themselves. Businesses have been abusing workers for at least forty years. The only reason it's an issue now is that people can now stand up to these businesses.
Want people to work? How about making front line workers enjoyable or at least less miserable? How about treating people with respect instead of like a line item on an expense report or an expendable commodity? People used to work two jobs to get ahead. Now they work two jobs to stay afloat. The only reason a lot of older workers are still in the workforce is insurance.

Lies, damn lies, and statistics.

A story that cherry picks specific day a points, doesn't put them in a broader context, refuses to give you the underlying data AND was either poorly edited or not at all deserves little respect.

I am not saying the take here offered is untrue. I am saying that it is unconvincing. Show me the numbers.
