The vexing military problem is we had no clue how to win in Afghanistan. We thought the COIN manual was our ticket to victory. Build up a democratic government, win the hearts and minds of the Afghans, train their military, and build things. We struck out on all those conventions.

Yeah, well we can all keep our fingers crossed but does anyone really expect Congress to hold themselves or the big name generals or the administrations accountable?
