Now, the San Diego Association of Governments' (SANDAG) board has decided to implement a 4-cent-per-mile tax after a virtual meeting on met Oct. 29. They claim that the proposed mileage tax will eventually replace gas taxes.
San Diego County Supervisor Jim Desmond stated that their intent is to “force everyone onto trolleys and buses."
“This proposal should never see the light of day,” Desmond explained. “San Diegans already pay some of the highest prices to drive in the country. From the current gas taxes to a vehicle registration tax, San Diegans feel the effects, in their wallets, every day.
“Adding another tax, to fund public transportation, is a slap in the face,” he noted. “I will not support any new taxes or fees upon San Diegans until the promised projects are completed.”

Lt Col Charlie Brown Always looking for another way to shaft the honest citizen! How are they going to enforce it? It will not replace the gas tax. Once they get used to it and start spending the money the city will not let it go. Just think about it, a car that get twenty-five miles to the gallon will equal another dollar a gallon in tax.

Back in the late 50's when gas was .09 cents per gallon in San Diego. This is just another way to sock it to the GI's stationed there, Navy and Marines not to say anything about the civil service people working for the government. Leave it to the democraps.
