Trump isn't really known for telling the truth.

0: "shook the foundations of democracy, literally" This is neither true literally or figuratively. Literally, democracy's foundations span back LONG before America was even a concept. Nothing that happens in America can *literally* shake the foundations of democracy. And it didn't shake them figuratively, either. Even if America as a democracy falls, there are literally hundreds of democratic nations in the world.
1: His speech *was* mild mannered. They show the clip of him talking about fighting like hell. He wasn't ranting and raving. He was calmly orating. And the fight like hell is out of context. In context every time he talks about fighting he is talking about fighting in the courts and the ballot box. Verdict: TRUE
2: I don't have a transcript, so I can neither confirm nor deny this one. But if it is similar to Biden's speech, the former President was often REFERENCED without being actually named. And the "journalists" here never actually show where Trump was named. Verdict: UNDETERMINED
3: Again, no evidence is presented to prove this as a lie. It was "permitted" for But no word as to whether or not it went over the permit. Still, 1,000,000 is unlikely. Verdict: Undetermined, but likely false.
4: He says they *were* peaceful people. Which is accurate. He is talking about the folks at his rally. After they left his rally many of them stopped being peaceful. That doesn't make Trump a liar. It means these people changed behavior. Verdict: TRUE.
5. Trump wasn't saying Pelosi runs the DC National Guard, which is VERY obvious in context here. He was saying Pelosi runs Capitol security. He offered / recommended DC National Guard PRIOR TO THE EVENT, which Pelosi (or her people) turned down. "Journalists" deliberately misconstruing words just to create a lie. Verdict: TRUE.
6. Yes there were guns. Aside from LEOs, none in the actual Capitol (that I am aware of), but there were guns. So a lie on a technicality, but yes, still a lit. Verdict: FALSE.
7. Yes, she was a criminal. Verdict: FALSE.
8. Again, he got this one wrong. Verdict: FALSE
9. Yes, CNN, some doors and windows were forced open. But some were also opened up to let folks in. Both can be true. It doesn't make Trump's statement a lie. Verdict: TRUE.
10. No, it isn't CNN. He was speaking of the love fest at the beginning. At first, it WAS very friendly and cordial. It did not immediately turn violent. It may only be true on a technicality, but it is still true. Verdict: TRUE.
11. Yes, they have 100s of hours of tape. No, they are not releasing most of it. Regardless of CNN's opinion of why or what the tape shows, this is still true. Verdict: TRUE.
12. There are hundreds of folks who were unarmed and locked up. This is true. You don't get to say "but look at these hundreds who are free" to call the statement that others are locked up false. Verdict: TRUE

So... of the "12 lies" three are demonstrably false. THREE. Another two are undetermined, and may be false, however CNN, bang up journalists that they are, provided zero evidence that they are actually false. And the other 7 statements are demonstrably true. One of the truths is only a technicality - but so is one of the lies, so they balance.

So, IF we were doing a truth-o-meter, with Trump on one side, and CNN on the other..... Trump actually wins this one by a HUGE margin - seven to three. Personally, I would say 16 to 3. Double points for calling the truth a lie, and a single point for calling something a lie but not proving it so.

Good job, CNN. Great "journalism."
