Family and friends gathered at the National WWII Museum this week to remember Lawrence Brooks, who was the oldest surviving WWII veteran until his death in early January at age 112. Thank you for your service Mr. Brooks & may you rest in peace!

Respect and admiration can never cover the grateful hearts of Americans who owed these hero soldiers everything. I am always in awe when I watch their interviews or when I have the opportunity to speak to them. It’s like my heart cry’s when they tell their stories. I have a very close friend from WWII, Navy Veteran Barney Adams who is 94 and I can sit every day and listen to his experiences. He tells of the friends he lost and the scars they bare from the bombshells that hit their ships.
It’s sincerely tough to listen to his voice crackle as he speaks of the past. God knows I love this hero as I do my dad and grandfather for their sacrifices. Just a few words to share.
