Old news, but I think it's the important to try and refocus Sailors on the vital skills they need for success. I qualified ESWS during an LCAC deployment, and my experience was with a pretty lackadaisical ESWS program, especially compared with coming from the submarine force. Something that had been said to me throughout my submarine qualification was seeing dolphins on a Sailors chest means I know I can trust them with my life...I definitely don't get that from seeing an ESWS pin

I can appreciate that. Most submariners take warfare quals very seriously, the few who don't likely won't be in the sub force for long. I recall that ESWS was a pretty hard qual when it first started, but it's up to the card signers to uphold the standards. They didn't.
