I'm in agreement with everything said in the article with one exception. Happiness to me is being able to achieve a good life. I'm not sure I understand why one would exclude the other the way the article appears to imply. It would seem to me that a better title would be achieving a good life is the way to happiness. Am I missing something?

I believe the author distinguishes happiness as momentary pleasure vs. contentment one can have with their life. For some of us old dogs, well we can enjoy all the pain and hard work that went into building our character. A lot of youth I see today are always only chasing the momentary pleasure and stay away from what I call the character builders. Looking back, some of the character builders in my life were quite painful, but if I didn’t successfully get through them, I wouldn’t be the person I am today.
