Because the KC-46 has not been declared operational, this “employment concept exercise” is designed to put the aircraft through its paces, ensuring it will be ready for fielding in 2023.

I just had an eye exam and afterwards was thinking about the KC-46 camera issues. I'm very simple and look for simple solutions. Why not have lens filters for the camera like the phoropter. [The phoropter is one of the basic tools used by optometrists to measure the refractive error and determine the eyeglass numbers of the patient.] The Boomer could dial-in the selected filters for the refueling operation depending on the weather, time of day, and the location of the sun.
