They obviously did not use the risk assessment with this operation. I would have talked to the people working at the site to get an opinion in risk. In war there is truth, strong assumptions, and pure assumptions. They definitely assumed that forest was safe.

It will be interesting to see how this works out. I believe the Russians attacked the North so Ukraine couldn’t concentrate defenses from the East and South attacks. Now Russia has relatively solidified their gains in these areas, they can pull back their forces from these other areas and dare anyone to come after them. Russia will keep throwing bombs here and there, along with isolated other actions, just to keep people off balance.
