If I were then I wouldn’t be bragging about how much they need to pay people to enlist. If this inflation continues under Biden they better start looking at the base pay for enlisted, we’re going to have some service families starving out there.

SFC Neil Baylard - You are saying this inflation has a lineage to inflation from around 1970? In my opinion we have been through several cycles of inflation since that time caused by different factors. We will have to agree to disagree.

Yes when we (President Nixon) took us off the "Gold" Standard it went down hill. Silver used to be in the coins used from 1964 and back. Once you devalue your currency and it is not backed by gold or silver inflation will be your "red headed step child" you can never get rid of.

SFC Neil Baylard - There are problems with being on and off the gold standard. On one side you have runaway inflation when Progressives print too much money, and on the other side you link your value to a desirable mineral that is a finite resource where gold payment is guaranteed. I believe we can see problems on both sides of this equation.

When did the U.S. go off the Gold Standard?
The U.S. abandoned the Gold Standard in 1971. The system will collapsing anyway, and the U.S. needed room to maneuver during tough financial times.
