I well remember those halcyon days of yesteryear, when Jimmy Carter was President, when prices and interest soared. Prepare to enjoy as we did then, to race to the checkout line in the grocery store before a stocker could add one more price sticker to that can of soup, atop a stack of several, each with a higher price than the last. Feel the exhilaration of purchasing a house at 11% interest. Yes, those were heady days thanks to government spending out of control and printing presses churning out worthless money (just as they are today). Oh, the thrills, the chills. But fear not, we have a President who will distract you with a three ring circus, all full of clowns

Yup, so now they will put ethanol in the gas tanks and drive up the cost of grain, meat and dairy

I've read several analysis to the effect that the cost of producing ethanol, including subsidies, exceeds cost of petroleum saved. Further, the "carbon footprint" of the logistics chain from fertilizer production (corn is a very heavy feeder) to farm equipt., through distilling, is larger than the "carbon footprint" of the replaced petroleum.
