The fact that only one died....that is rather surprising. But yes, I truly believe that if they had been wearing their belts, the outcome would have been completely different. Injured but alive.

All this leads to leadership, NCOs and Officers, plainly not enforcing the standards to their soldiers. But then again do soldiers not try to get away with shortcuts when not being watched? How do we as leaders stop stupidity and shortcuts?

Can you remind me — are troops supposed to wear seatbelts as the standard in this vehicle? I saw the article stated this:
According to CRC, “initial reports” suggest none of the solders in the vehicle — all of whom were ejected — were wearing seatbelts.

All Soldiers are required to wear seatbelts when riding in military vehicles.
