There were times when I hurt so much that I did not want to feel anything and walked into the forest and sat down leaning against a tree. I wanted mindfulness. I felt the cool wind, the sunlight flickered through the leaves, and the sweet smell of the flora wafted in the air. I became part of the forest and the hurt temporarily disappeared.

I have always been much more comfortable surrounded by wilderness than surrounded by people.
